What's the overall best video editing software for a beginner?

31October

I am thinking of beginning video-logging frequently on YouTube, however, I am at a crossroads about the best audio and video editing software.

Preferably it will be easy to pick up, and have capabilities like colour themes, (black and white, antique, negative etc), comes pre-packed with audio you can add to the video (or the ability to add your own audio in) and things like that. I know absolutely nothing, and advice would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

u can use
Windows Movie Maker
or Ulead Video Studio
or Adobe Premiere

What type of format does my dvd player need to accept?

31October

I need a new dvd player. However, before I buy one I need to be sure that it will play the mini dvd's that my camcorder makes. What format do I have to look for on the specs?

i think almost any dvd players of today are able to play mini dvds. try checking your pc dvd drive for example, do you see a small circular spot in the middle of the disc tray? if you can find that in a disc tray of a regular dvd player, that means it can play mini dvds. your camcorder formats a recorded video to play on a dvd player, so it should be ok.

How do keep all songs on my iPod video when I have a home network and songs are from 2 computers?

31October

I have a laptop and a pc on my home network. The pc has 75% of the mp3s that were synced and the laptop has the rest. While traveling with the laptop, I purchased new CD's and wanted to upload them to the pc to sync to the iPod video. I tried the "manually manage" setting, but iTunes still only added the new songs and deleted all the other 2500 songs that are on the pc back home. How do I add songs to the iPod without losing/deleting/unsyncing the songs that the iTunes/iPod cannot "see" if I'm not connected to my home network? Thanks one million.
More details….. I can get all the songs I have onto my iPod when I'm connected to my home network (let's say that is 2,000 songs), but when I'm only connected to my laptop when I travel, I lose all the songs that are stored on my pc back home (1,500 songs) when I try to add new songs through my laptop. (Then it syncs and I only have 500 songs on my iPod.) How can I add songs to my iPod when it's only connected to the laptop and NOT lose the songs that are associated with the pc?

I had the same problem. cause i have two pcs and 1 had music i bought and the other had more music i bought and cds i downloaded. but when you plug your ipod into either computer and it tries to sync, a box should come up aking you if you want to transfer purchases. click yes. if another box comes and says that your computer isnt athorized for that ther follow the instuctions to authorize it. good luck!

80:20 rules! - Building software smarter

ABSTRACT

Ever notice that you seem to spend 80% of your time on 20% of your tasks? Or that 80% of the decisions in a meeting seem to occur in 20% of the meeting time? Welcome to the world of the 80:20 rule. When we design, build and test software, we have to determine where to start and what we should do next. The 80:20 rule helps provide an answer to these questions, while helping to increase our productivity and effectiveness. As well as being an agile principle, it’s a common thread in other disciplines, and there’s a special variation that applies to software defects. We’ll explore the different ways testers and developers are using the 80:20 rule. This rule could be a secret ingredient to help you build software smarter!
