And btw, WHEN(not if) my xbox 360 breaks(which I know it will) I will not be getting it fixed if I have to pay for it. Sony actually knows how to build a reliable piece of hardware. So when the 360 breaks, so sorry for M$, because they sure as won’t be getting any more of my money. I will be all PS3.

It is a lot cheaper …
It is a lot cheaper now. At the time I got this player, the HD DVD add on was $200 and I got this player for like $169. Plus I really wanted a standalone player because the 360 is loud and has reliability issues. I don’t want to kill it just from watching too many movies on it. I use my HD DVD player for playing everything except blu rays(obviously… I use my PS3 for that)

I like it. PS3 has MGS4(which is AMAZING) and Resistance: Fall of man. There are also games like Uncharted: Drakes Fortune which isn’t really a war game, it’s a lot like Tomb Raider, it’s kinda a run & gun. There is also Tekken 5 and God of War 3.. The 360 also has some great war games like Gears of War. I would personally go with the PS3 though because it has a list of great games that are coming out this year, while the only big 360 exclusive coming out this year is Gears of War 2.

Sony owns: Sony …
Sony owns: Sony Pictures(obviously) and about 1/5 of MGM. Other than that they just own a bunch of small studio companies. Warner Bros. Paramount, Universal, and New Line Cinema all backed HD DVD at the time. It was WB that basically killed HD DVD when they decided to switch to Blu Ray only. But I still think HD DVD was a great format.
BTW I now have a 40GB PS3 so I really don’t care that it failed.

Blu ray has won… Sony is the creator of blu ray.. and they also own like every major motion picture company under the sun.. its only common knowledge that a very high percentage of new movies will only be put towards blu ray

Yeah this also means really cheap HD DVDs. I kinda glad HD DVD failed now that I think about it. I have a PS3 so I’m set for blu ray. I think the PS3 is a way better HD player too because the HD DVD player in this video takes about 45 seconds just to boot-up and then around minute to load an HD DVD. With the PS3 it’s just as quick as a standard dvd player even with Blu Ray discs.

I Actually was waiting for the inevitable Blu-Ray win so I could purchase this HD-DVD player on the cheap. It’s only $89.00 right now at Tiger direct! Even with out the HD capabilities its still one of an upconverting system!

Actually the fact that HD DVD has basically the same picture and audio quality means that those of us that own the players might get some GREAT deals on movies in the next year. I can see $5-10 HD DVD’s versus $20-30 Blu-rays. There are enough HD DVD’s out there now that Toshiba will continue to offer a player. A dual format player is also an option. The discs are not going to just “go bad” if Blu wins. In a few years they will make a way to rip the HD DVD and burn to a Blu-ray.

I have the 360 because the PS3 games suck right now. I love Halo and Forza and Xbox Live kicks . The PS3 will start getting good game in a year or so.

The player was on sale for $169 on black friday. I am happy with my purchase and I get 7 free HD DVD’s, that alone is worth more than the player. And I don’t really care which format wins because I will be getting a PS3 at least by next Christmas. Nobody truly knows whose gonna win tho:P

Good format, but it will eventually be wiped out by blu-ray. The quality is the same, the movies cost about the same, and the blu-ray discs can hold more data. Even a lot of the movie rental stores are leaning towards blu-ray. Bad choice canderton! In a year or two you will realize that you wasted your money on an obsolete format.

Please just skip thru 3:50-4:40 as I forgot to turn on the U-Control feature(which I was trying to demonstrate) And just like all my other vids it is crappy quality. Please just try to bear thru it:)
